A NURSERY’S plan to expand has been supported by town councillors.

Casson Fold Day Nursery in Daisy Hill, Westhoughton, has applied to change the use of its ground floor to extra space for the nursery.

The building is currently a mixed-use building but the nursery wishes to utilise the existing residential space due to its popularity.

A statement submitted with the application said: “The application site has operated as a children’s day nursery since 2004 and was formerly a large detached house with indoor swimming pool. The original house is now a day nursery on both floors with the owner operators living in accommodation to a single storey area to the rear of the property.

“The nursery is very popular with local families and currently caters for up to 45 children from the ever expanding and highly popular residential area of Daisy Hill.”

During a Westhoughton Town Council meeting Cllr David Chadwick said: “This nursery is very well organised and well run so we should be supporting this business.” The application was recommended for approval.
