Go Ape: Severe impact on parking

UNFORTUNATELY, Mr Kidd (Letters, October 31) seems to be a bit confused about Go-Ape’s plans for car parking and their new 40- space car park.

If you read their planning application (Chorley.gov web site, planning application no 08/00553/ful) they are intending to take over the existing car park adjacent to the Great House Barn as well. They have estimated the number of car parking spaces needed as about 95.

At busy times this will have a severe impact on availability of spaces for the elderly, or less able bodied, visitors to the barn who regularly use that car park.

Also, it was Lord Leverhulme who equipped the barns with catering facilities so that visitors could buy refreshments and functions could be held. These are not recent commercial developments! Lord Leverhulme was right to protect Lever Park from commercial ventures.

It has retained its natural beauty and is not littered with decaying, out-of-date and rundown attractions from previous attempts at profit making.
