TWO craftsmen are hoping that their combined skills will help open the door to success.

Dave Hilton and Paul Degisi run separate companies making bespoke doors and decorative glass, respectively.

Now the men have moved into a new showroom together in Tonge Moor Road, where they hope to showcase their respective skills.

Mr Hilton, aged 50, said: “The opportunity came up to buy the company that Paul used to work for and I always wanted to have my own showroom.

“So far, business is not bad and while it is always a gamble to set up in a recession, we are confident that we provide a unique, cost-effective bespoke service for people who want new doors and matching glass panels.”

The two men believe they will be offering a unique service to customers in the region.

Mr Hilton’s company, Bespoke Composite Doors Ltd, provides strong and secure fibreglass doors that can be altered to fit any home.

Mr Degisi runs Bespoke Decorative Glass Ltd and has brought his artistic talents to the new venture, offering one-off crafted glass panels and mirrors.

Customers are able to view at least 15 styles of doors, glass panels and mirrors in a variety of colours and designs.

Both men have worked for the big names in their respective industries and, having met while still working for other people, decided to set up together after realising their individual skills could complement each other.

Mr Degisi, aged 36, has worked in the glass industry for 20 years, starting off as a glass cutter before using his artistic talents to train as a decorative glass craftsman.

He said: “It’s a perfect partnership between me and Dave as we offer a bespoke service all round.

“I can supply unique designs, or I can recreate other people’s designs, and I can also recreate and artificially age glass to look like old fashioned Victorian decorative glass.

“I can also make a matching hallway mirror if that’s what customers want.”
