We'll keep you up-to-date with the night's happenings and we'll be providing analysis as the count progresses and the results come through.

Together with video coverage by our team of experienced reporters, The Bolton News will ensure readers gain the fullest insight yet into a Bolton local election, with coverage starting at 10pm.

And we'll be inviting readers to comment on the twists and turns of the night.

Will Labour lose to the Tories or will they hold strong? Will the Lib Dems make a dramatic comeback and seize control once again? Or will the smaller parties have an impact and change the make-up of the council?

One thing is certain, it is expected to be a tightly fought battle between the three main parties.

One third of the council seats, 20 in total, are up for grabs, with Labour defending eight, and the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives bidding to hold on to six each.

Labour currently has 26 seats with the Conservatives on 22, Liberal Democrats on 11 and there is one independent councillor.
