EX-Wanderers bad boy El-Hadji Diouf will be launched into today’s New Year’s Day clash at Elland Road as one of four changes for Neil Warnock’s side.

The Senegal star, still a cult hero at the Reebok, was rested as Leeds went down 2-0 at Hull at the weekend.

But Warnock has said Diouf, Luciano Becchio, Jerome Thomas and Lee Peltier could all make a return to the side for the visit of the Whites, against whom he is calling for an immediate response after losing consecutive games over Christmas against Nottingham Forest and Hull to drop five points out of the play-off picture.

“You don’t want to lose any game, never mind back to back, but it’s how you pick yourself up that counts,” he said.

“We have to get straight back into it, we’ve played well at Elland Road, and we have to be raring to go.”

On his injury situation, he added: “Becchio had a little bit of a knock on his thigh and it wasn’t worth the risk at Hull with Bolton coming up so quickly.

“Hopefully, he’ll be okay. Dioufy was the same. I thought with Bolton coming up it was important to give him a breather.

“Jerome Thomas was the same. He was struggling with two games in four days. I decided Bolton was more important for those players than Hull. “Hopefully we’ll have them all available, and possibly Peltier as well, then for the next league game we might have a couple of new faces.”

Wide man Aidy White is out today after picking up his fifth booking.
