EGERTON are the Lancashire champions of the ECB National six-a-side indoor cricket competition after winning both their matches in the finals on Sunday.
They competed against Walshaw and Chorley in a round robin competition at Old Trafford’s indoor centre.
In Egerton’s first game, they restricted Walshaw to 83-5 before sealing a nine-wicket victory. Stuart Hornby was top scorer, guiding the Bolton League side to 84-1 with 24 not out.
Chorley provided a much sterner test. Egerton batted first and made 128-3, Hornby again top scorer with 30no, while Danny Partington weighed in with 27no and Anthony Clegg 20. Chorley fell just a few runs short, all out for 122, thanks in part to some fine fielding from Egerton, who got three run-outs.
Egerton will now face the winners of the Shropshire area competition in the next round.
