Wheater set for comeback

DAVID Wheater is due to make his comeback from injury at Leyland for the development squad tonight.

The centre-half has been out since May, when he ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament. He had been a mainstay of the defence last season, making 40 appearances after a £2.3million move from Middlesbrough two years ago yesterday.

He is due to face Newcastle United for the Under-21s tonight (7pm kick off) provided the County Ground pitch gets the go-ahead.
