WANDERERS will not leave their business until the last minute of the transfer window, with two new signings expected to be confirmed today.

Dougie Freedman has continued his youth recruitment drive by snapping up 20-year-old Leicester City defender Cian Bolger and 18-year-old Hamilton Academical midfielder Gary Fraser for nominal fees.

With tomorrow night’s deadline fast approaching, it is understood there is a slim chance of two foreign-based players also joining the ranks.

But reports suggesting the Whites are going to rival Crystal Palace for Bristol City winger Albert Adomah are wide of the mark, with the Championship strugglers determined to drive the price above £2million.

Wanderers are continuing to take a prudent line, and have so far made just one cash purchase in the current window – Craig Davies from Barnsley for £300,000.

Jan Gregus has been brought in on a year-long loan from Banik Ostrava and, like Bolger and Fraser, is expected to move straight into the development squad.

Freedman also captured West Brom defender Craig Dawson on loan, and with a handful of first-team players such as David Wheater, Stuart Holden and Mark Davies nearing full fitness, should soon have significant competition for places.

The Wanderers boss is keen to see a similar situation in Jamie Fullarton’s development squad and has spoken of his desire to bring in younger players with a point to prove.

Bolger has not made a first-team appearance for Leicester City but has won admirers in League Two during three separate loan spells with Bristol Rovers, who have also had a bid rejected for the defender this month.

The 6ft 4ins centre-half was the Foxes’ Academy player of the year in 2009 and made close to 50 appearances over 18 months for the Pirates.

Former Celtic youth-teamer Fraser had a medical at the Reebok on Monday and sources in Scotland suggest he will be offered a three-year deal.

The midfielder made his debut in August 2011, a month after his 17th birthday, and has gone on to make 14 senior appearances for Billy Reid’s side.

Hamilton have a good track record producing young talent – setting the likes of James McArthur and James McCarthy on their way to regular Premier League football with Wigan Athletic.
