So, to sum up deadline day, Wanderers have signed Medo Kamara and Cian Bolger permanently and Steven de Ridder on loan until March.

Perhaps just as importantly, they have kept hold of Marcos Alonso amidst heavy interest from elsewhere and David Ngog, who was subject to a loan bid from Fulham.

Youngster Michael O'Halloran extended his loan at Tranmere to the full season, while Hibs' efforts to take Gregg Wylde collapsed over the fee paid up front.

There was also some late speculation linking skipper Kevin Davies with a move away from the Reebok that proved fruitless in the end, but will give everyone food for thought as the skipper's contract expires in the summer.

But on a personal level, I'd be the first to congratulate Kev on what he's done for the club should he decide to go. It would be a sad day, and I dearly hope something can be sorted to enable him to stay, but I'm positive he won't be lacking for offers in the summer.

David Ngog remains at the club and boss Dougie Freedman say he is "in no mind to sell".

However, with Fulham's interest believed to be concrete, he accepts he would have to listen to a "good offer" for the French striker.

We understand an initial enquiry proposed £500,000 up front now and a further £2million in the summer from the Cottagers.

Dougie Freedman has admitted there is continued interest in Marcos Alonso from several clubs but he remains at the club - for now.

Freedman has hinted that he may have to search for a late replacement at left-back if anything happens with regards the Spaniard moving on.

Down the road at Bury, the Shakers have confirmed the signings of experienced right-back Carl Regan and Cameroon midfielder Valéry Mézague, while striker Lenell John-Lewis and Andrai Jones have left the club on permanent deals to Grimsby and Barnsley respectively on 18-month permanent deals.
Manager Kevin Blackwell has also confirmed that Efe Sodje has turned down offers of permanent moves to Blue Square Bet Premier sides Luton and Macclesfield.

Talksport report that Stoke City remain interested in Wanderers pair Chung-Yong Lee and Marcos Alonso.

Potters boss Tony Pulis is apparently keen on the pair but hoping to drive down the asking price for Lee from a reported £5million and Alonso from £500,000 to £200,000.

RE Ngog - now had it confirmed that a verbal bid has been made from Fulham to loan the French striker with a view to buying him in the summer. A firm decision has not yet been made by Wanderers on whether they will let him out or not.

DF has a lot of work to to, and it will take a couple of seasons to assembly a new team,

Personally i like the idea of the club and DF concentrating on bringing youth through the ranks, with such great academy they have been underachieving for some time.

Christ what were the last real youth players to come through the ranks.

For the record - there have been a few whispers about Chung-Yong and a possible move elsewhere but I'm informed that's all they have been. No offers whatsoever. Stoke City have been mentioned a few times, although it seems the link has stemmed from a firm of agents who brokerered his deal from FC Seoul a few years ago.

Of more interest is the fact that Alan Harper has been spotted around the Reebok recently. He used to work for Wanderers, and spotted Chungy playing in the K League back in Gary Megson's day. Now he works for Liverpool.

Marcos Alonso looks likely to go to Fiorentina in the summer but Stoke City have emerged as a late contender for his signature.

Fulham have been linked overnight with a £2.5million move for David Ngog, and that could well fund a deal for Leicester City's Lloyd Dyer.

Medo Kamara is very nearly done - expect that one to be announced in the course of the day along with Cian Bolger, also of Leicester.

There might also be a bit of loan movement - with Gregg Wylde, Joe Riley and Rob Lainton all subject to interest from elsewhere.

We need to be realistic when it's clear the owner is far from convinced spending money on quality players will guarantee promotion and so has decided to pocket the money and hope mediocre players rise to the challenge.

However, Dougie has a rebuild on his hands. I think he and the club know it. I believe we can get promoted but unless there is a dramatic improvement it will be with a very different team. COYWM!

I am an optimist usually but must admit I haven't been impressed with the teams passive brand of football since he arrived and todays signings haven't served to inspire me - think i'll give Watford a miss.
