Matacunas on target as Fold grasp the nettle

JOHNSON Fold stretched their lead at the top of Division One to three points with a 3-1 victory at FC Castle A.
Tim Matacunas led the scoring, bagging a brace for the league leaders, and team-mate Craig Salone also got his name of the scoresheet, while Cliff McCarthy netted a consolation goal for the home side.
Farnworth CC started the day in second but dropped a place after being held to a 2-2 draw at home to Queen Lizzy.
Neighbours Farnworth United capitalised to leapfrog them into second place following their 5-3 victory at mid-table Newbury.
Joe Cappy was again on form for the visitors, scoring twice, while Martin Brown (two) and Alex Crossman completed the scoring for Farnworth.
They were pushed all the way by the home side, who were kept in it by two goals from Aaron Walmsley and one from Dominic Sharples.
Cattle Market moved level on points with Farnworth CC following their 6-4 victory at Morris Dancers.
Nathan Monson and Gaz Gemmil both scored two for the visitors, backed up by goals from Sean Rothwell and Lee Fitzsimmons, while the Dancers had four different scorers – Joe Hewitt, Stuart Schofield, Mark Whitley and Mick Gregory.
Aaron McCarthy scored a hat-trick as Darcy Lever moved up to fifth with a 6-0 win at home to Hulton Lane. Lee Mulrony, Paul Lomax and Adam Alwill were also on the scoresheet for Darcy.
Deane remain bottom after going down 4-2 at fellow strugglers De Havilland.
Shane Rawlinson scored both goals for Deane, while Josh Airey (two), Peter Bates and Kieron Marsh were on target for the home side.
Division Two leaders Deane Vulcan put 15goals past Brindley Arms without reply, Aaron Hilyard (five), Gaz Cunliffe (four), Denis Strickland and Rhys Howarth (both three) sharing the goals, while second placed Dunmare won 17-0 at Royal, who could only field seven players.
