RAIN ravaged the Bolton League programme on Saturday with all seven matches adandoned – one without a ball being bowled.

The Walkden-Horwich clash was first to be called off at 1.50pm before any play was possible and, although the other six matches got under way, they also fell victim of the heavy downpours with a total of just 66.1 overs being bowled across the league.

That meant no change at the top with leaders Little Lever going into the second leg of their weekend double header with a 15-point lead over Egerton.

In fact the Victory Road men featured in the longest match, bowling 14.1 overs at Eagley, who had reached 38 without loss with Mike Ward and Paul Rayment at the crease when the umpires called a halt to proceedings.

Wickets fell at Castle Hill where Tonge had Egerton at 63-4. Visiting pro Athal Athulathmudali hit a bright and breezy 41 off 28 balls while Neil Tong was in his seventh over with figures of 3-31 before the weather intervened.

At The Rigbys, Bradshaw’s Steve Foster took the one wicket to fall with the last ball bowled as Heaton waded to 6-1 in 6.5 overs.

Elsewhere, brothers Steve (21 not out) and Rick (14no) Parker had taken Kearsley to 52-1 in 12.1 overs at home to Astley Bridge, Westhoughton were 26-0 from seven at Farnworth Social Circle and Farnworth notched 27-1 in 6.2 overs at Greenmount.
