Bolton Association team to play the Bolton League in the Axford Trophy
THE Bolton Association have picked Atherton duo Jimmy Damjanovski and Jamar Griffith, and Bury’s Kobus Scholtz as the three professionals in their team for the annual Axford Trophy match against the Bolton League on Sunday.
With the consistently classy Adlington coach Majid Majeed and prolific run scorer Luke Perry of Flixton - the stage of Sunday’s local showdown - the Association look to have a strong team on paper.
But the recent record suggests they will have an uphill task on their hands as they have only beaten their local inter-league rivals twice since 1999, the last coming in 2010, although the game was washed out last year.
Captained by Bury’s Simon Belston, the team has two players from Walshaw, Bury, Atherton, Elton and one from Flixton, Edgworth and Adlington.
The match starts at 1pm and the Association team is: Simon Belston (Bury) captain, Danny Lomax (Elton) wicketkeeper, Danny Hornby (Walshaw), Nick Murphy, (Walsahw), Ali Dickson (Edgworth), Kieran Grundy (Elton), Luke Perry (Flixton), Majid Majeed (Adlington), James Damjanovski (Atherton), Jamar Griffith, (Atherton), Kobus Scholtz (Bury).
