A BOLTON College golfer has his fellow competitors green with envy after impressing in national competitions and events.
Marcus Scholes went along to the British Open in July and entered a junior long driving event.
The 16-year-old took the top prize of a computer game after hitting a massive 275 yards.
He also showed his outstanding promise by winning the Junior Club Championship at Bolton Old Links (Beswick Trophy).
In the process, he beat off the challenge of defending champion Michael Tunstall 2&1.
As if that was not enough just days later he bagged his lowest ever round at the Bolton Old Links in July with a 71 – one under – which included six birdies.
Dad John Scholes said: “Marcus is doing all right and has been doing a lot of improving this year.
“He also finished 27th at the Lancashire Boys Under-16s Championships with a round of 80.
“He is enjoying his golf at the minute and did well in the Junior Club Championship.
“He still has a long way to go and will continue to push himself as hard as he can.
“He manages to play off a handicap of 4.5.”
