New signing means Leeds could drop interest in Bolton Wanderers defender Mills
THE future of Wanderers defender Matt Mills remains unclear with just over 10 days until the transfer window closes.
The 27-year-old is yet to figure in Dougie Freedman’s matchday Championship squad this season and was overlooked for the Capital One Cup victory at Shrewsbury in favour of Tim Ream.
The defender, who made 18 appearances last season following a move from Leicester a year ago, has expressed a desire to stay and fight for his place at the Reebok.
But there have been links with other Championship clubs this summer, most notably Leeds and Blackpool, and Freedman may need to move players out before he adds any more to his squad.
It had been thought a switch to be reunited with his former Reading boss Brian McDermott may have been edging closer when Leeds missed out on the signature of Gordon Greer from Brighton.
But McDermott, who had also considered a loan move for Mills, has this week signed young Manchester United centre-back Scott Wootton on a £1million three-year deal. And that could spell the end of any interest in Mills.
