NINETEEN members of Bolton Metro Swim Squad travelled to Spain to take part in a training camp.
The swimmers, ranging from 11 years old to 15 were joined by two coaches and three team managers in Calella.
They had the use of a multi-lane pool, 50 metres long and 10m wide, and access to a gym boasting weight machines and cardio equipment which allowed the coaches to plan several land workouts.
The young Bolton athletes worked hard during the camp, completing 18 hours of technique and conditioning training in the pool and five hours in a gym with an additional four hours for general stretches before and after their workout sessions.
Their behaviour and commitment throughout the stay abroad impressed club officials.
The camp is seen by the club as a positive build-up to the new season, and coaches hope what the youngsters have learned will be transmitted into their performances in the months ahead.
