El-Hadji Diouf set for return to Bolton Wanderers' Reebok Stadium
EL-HADJI Diouf has been tipped for a Reebok recall after proving his fitness to Leeds United boss Brian McDermott this week.
Former Wanderers favourite Diouf came through 90 minutes for the Leeds reserves against Sunderland on Monday to prove he is over the shin problem that has restricted him to just two substitute appearances so far this season.
The Senegal star had been linked with a loan move away from Elland Road but is desperate to feature against his former club.
Although his often controversial behaviour overshadowed his four seasons at Wanderers, Diouf was a popular figure on the terraces making 136 appearances and weighing in with 22 goals, including the club’s first-ever strike in European competition.
He was made captain by Neil Warnock when Leeds drew 2-2 at Wanderers last season and given a standing ovation when he left the field.
One of the goalscorers for the Yorkshiremen that night, midfield starlet Sam Byram, is also nearing full fitness following a hip injury that has kept him out since May.
