Young Zach Clough gives Dougie Freedman food for thought
HOT-SHOT Zach Clough has given Dougie Freedman a timely nudge with two goals in only his second start of the season for the development squad.
The highly-rated 18-year-old made a successful return from a hernia problem to help sink Blackburn Rovers on Monday night.
Clough, pictured left, had been pencilled-in for a loan move – with clubs from League Two and the SPL interested – but may now have made a case to make the step up to senior grade with Wanderers, who have been struggling for goals all season.
Andy Kellett and Tom Youngs travelled with Freedman’s squad for the 3-1 defeat at Brighton on Saturday and the Wanderers boss is keen to try and give some of his developing players a chance.
He also gave a trial to American winger Gregory Ariyibi, who was released by Southampton in the summer. The 18-year-old went on as a second-half substitute in the 3-0 victory, with Wanderers’ other goal scored by summer signing Conor Wilkinson.
