Lee Clark wary of taking Bolton Wanderers lightly
LEE Clark has warned his Birmingham side to hit Wanderers good and early in an effort to play on their fragile confidence.
The Blues boss believes Dougie Freedman’s side are much better than their lowly league position suggests – but sees a window of opportunity for his own club to build on an excellent 4-0 win over Millwall on Tuesday.
“I believe Bolton are in a very false position with the quality squad they have and the quality manager,” he said.
“We are stressing not to look at the table or the start Bolton have had; look at the quality of players they have and we have to continue in the same vein.
“I don’t think come the end of the season they will be anywhere near where they are.
“With all groups of professional sports people who haven’t had the best of starts, it erodes your confidence a little bit. You have to rebuild that.
“We are not thinking it is a given, we know we’re going to have to be as good as we were on Tuesday to get the result.
“What we have to do is start the game as well as we did against Millwall and put doubts in the Bolton lads’ minds that it could be another tough afternoon for them like they’ve endured most of the season.
“We can’t let them get a foothold in the game and allow their confidence to build during the match.”
