Coach David Lee critical of Bolton Wanderers Under-18s
WANDERERS Under-18s coach David Lee was disappointed with the performance of his young players in Saturday’s 5-0 home defeat by Middlesbrough.
It was a sixth loss in seven league outings for Lee’s charges but the first time he has been critical of their overall display.
He said: “The players were not at the races – there were a number of poor individual performances.
“A lack of game awareness and basic defensive errors were exploited by the opposition.
“The less said the better, really.
“Individual errors and a lack of finishing cost us dearly.
“It was one of those days where everything went wrong.”
Wanderers fell behind in the first half but wasted chances to level the scores before half time.
After the interval, however, the visitors, who had lost 5-0 to Chelsea in their previous outing, put Wanderers to the sword with four more goals to leave the young Whites rooted to the foot of the FA U18 Premier League North group table.
Lee’s team have a blank weekend ahead and return to action at Everton on Saturday, October 19.
l The dates for Wanderers Under-21s forthcoming cup games have been confirmed.
Jamie Fullarton’s team will travel to Squires Gate training ground to face Blackpool in the Lancashire Senior Cup on Tuesday, October 22, kick off 2pm.
Then, the development squad, who were in action at Newcastle United last night, will visit Bury on Tuesday, November 12 for their final Manchester Senior Cup group game at Gigg Lane, kick off 1pm.
