Team Leapfrog Ben-efit from Aldred move
A BOLTON cycling team have strengthened their team to try to reach the pinnacle of the sport in the North West.
Team Leapfrog have announced that Ben Aldred is joining their ranks.
The 24-year-old has already proved to be a winner.
In his first season this year racing for local club Lancashire Racing Club, he managed several wins including an impressive first place at the Skelmersdale round of the Cycling Development North West League.
Aldred said: “I’ve been cycling since I was a kid and got given my first road bike by my granddad at 16. “I only started getting serious in April last year when I was helping a friend train for the Ironman. “By August I’d joined LRC. “I’ve had a better-than-expected first season. “I started late with my first race being the Horwich Handicap in June.
“I knew I had a good kick and was pleased to finish second, so the aim for the remainder of the season was to win a race and get my third category licence. “I finished with three wins from nine races and managed to achieve a second category licence. “I have no limit where I want to be. I’d like to gain an elite category licence.
“I’ll just train as hard as I can with the goal to just keep improving and see where it gets me.”
