BOLTON darts star Lisa Ashton added the England Matchplay Title to her growing number of different trophies at the England Classic Open weekend at Selsey in West Sussex.
The championship brought together some of the best lady darts players in the world.
She headed into the competition as England number two after holding the number one spot for over two years. Her first opponent was world number five Fallon Sherrock who she defeated 4-0 with an average of 83. Her next opponent was number one world ranked player Deta Hedman – who currently holds 12 world ranking titles this year alone.
She was the player who replaced her as number one in the England Darts Organisation rankings.
Ashton raced into a 3-0 lead only to see Hedman take the next three to level the tie.
Ashton then produced some scintillating darts to take the match 5-3 and put her into the final.
Her opponent in the final was her pairs partner and nine times world champion Trina Gulliver.
The game went the full distance with both girls averaging well over 83.
At 5-5, it was Lisa who won the bull in the deciding leg and took out 114 for a 15-leg game to claim another famous victory by six legs to five.
That saw her stake her claim as one of the most talented players in the world of darts. The championship was once again televised worldwide by the EDO.
