Steve Pilling’s men are in action again on Tuesday evening when they travel to Ashton Athletic for a Lancashire Trophy clash.
Elsewhere, Atherton Laburnum Rovers lost to current league champions Formby at Crilly Park.
It was the beginning of a tough run of matches for LR who face Ramsbottom United away on Tuesday evening in the Lancashire Trophy before a trip to Maine Road on Saturday in the FA Vase.
Rovers changed their tactics to counteract Formby’s attacking style, but it failed to work as the champions took the lead on eight minutes through John Prescott. He then grabbed his second on 37 minutes before Francis Smith added to their advantage two minutes into the second half.
The home side scored a consolation goal on 59 minutes through Mark Adams.
The 3-1 scoreline leaves LR in 6th place. Daisy Hill remain in 12th place after a 2-1 defeat away at Rochdale Town.
This was their third consecutive defeat.
