NEIL Danns is backing Wanderers team-mate Jermaine Beckford to take his October and November scoring form into a busy festive schedule and keep the goals flowing into 2014.
Despite his dramatic late penalty miss in Saturday’s defeat at Middlesbrough and another costly spurned chance in Tuesday night’s home defeat by his former club Huddersfield, Beckford still boasts a recent run of five goals in eight Championship matches.
And another ex-Terrier, Danns, says it is no surprise to him having witnessed first-hand the goalscoring prowess of a man he has played alongside at his last three sides, starting with his parent-club Leicester. Danns said: “It is a pleasure to play alongside Jermaine.
“I have followed him around a bit recently at Leicester, Huddersfield and now Bolton. I can’t get away from him!!
“We get on really well; we are sort of like the same character and have the same humour. I am just glad he has been firing on all cylinders at the moment and that is good for us. As long as he keeps scoring that’s good for us. Long may it continue – he shows no signs of letting up at all.
“I suppose he will say he is like a vintage wine maturing with age. He turns 30 next week, but I’m in my thirties so can’t really rib him.”
