HAPPY days are here again after we finally got the convincing home win we’ve been waiting for.
Dougie made radical changes to the team and went for it. The back four were restored, young Mason and Moritz started, Pratley returned and Eagles landed.
The confidence was there from the start with a more attacking performance.
The defence looked solid, although Doncaster might have snatched the lead when giant Robinson headed against a post.
Pratley was back to his energetic best covering every blade of grass and Moritz was superb, displaying some amazing touches.
Eagles was rejuvenated. Mason got the first assisted by a wicked deflection and Moritz rattled in the second from the edge of the box.
It was a case of how many we were going to get, although we had to wait until the last minute before Danns finished off a move he started to make it three.
After Tuesday’s let down, we really did not know what to expect.
Which Wanderers would turn up; the growing in confidence away team or the nervous erratic home team?
We got the answer with the most positive home display for a long while and everyone played their part. The stability our back four have given us is priceless.
Moritz and Eagles gave us creativity and Pratley gave us the mobility we need.
On top of that, we had three different scorers.
With Sparky and Vela on their way back, the outlook is bright and Dougie will have even more options available, although he needs to be careful not to make too many changes.
Let the midfield and forwards build up an understanding of each other’s play like the defence has.
Well done to Dougie for making the bold decisions.
There’s nothing like a good home win to cheer us all up. We’ll feel even better if we can sort Wigan out.
