MORRIS Dancers had no trouble climbing to level on points at the top of Division One with a 6-1 victory over a Shamrock team who played throughout with only nine men.

Dave Bretherton scored twice with Jay Smith, Ady Nugent, Rick Gibson and Ross Anderton on target for Dancers and Calum Barlow replying for Shamrock.

Newbury are three points behind in third after a 3-2 home win against Gilnow.

Ash Haslam, Gaz Bentley and Ash Kirkman scored for the winners and John Davis and Naill Callaghan got Gilnow’s goals.

Fifth-placed Farnworth United just edged their home games against bottom club Great Lever 2-1, Gaz French and Martin Brown scoring for Farnworth and Kyle Ryan for the strugglers.

Second-placed Heaton Cricket Club, who have two games in hand, maintained the pressure with a 4-2 win at fifth-placed Queen Lizzy.

Darren Smethurst scored two and Rob Walsh and Tony Mccormick got the others for Heaton, with Gareth Gregory and Shane Smyth getting Lizzy’s goals.

Brindley Arms romped to an 8-2 home win in the clash of the bottom two with Westhoughton.

Ryan Owen and Stuart Lea each scored two with Jordan Dean, Nick Halliday, Lewis Porter and Dylan Ross getting Brindley’s others, and Ashley Callow and Mike Magarth replying for the bottom club who are 10 points adrift.
