BOLTON Olympic Wrestling Club marked a successful end to 2013 with their annual presentation evening.

Mark Cocker walked away with the award for the best senior wrestler while Declan Fisher scooped the International Shield for his achievements at the British Championships.

Meanwhile, Mark Johnson was the best junior wrestler at the club while Fisher was the runner-up in that category.

Among the other wrestlers celebrating were Charlie Meadows (Tommy Heyes hardest trainer), Nathan Livesey (most improved wrestler), Tommy Costello (Little Billy award), Lucy McGrath, (best female), Tariq Williams (Barmy Army title), Dean Scott (coaches’ choice) and Jack Costello (best newcomer).

Cocker will be keeping his fingers crossed that he can represent the club at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland to add to the honour of taking part in the last event in Delhi in 2010.

Another person eager to join him is one of the club coaches Craig Pilling.

He has just returned from a high-profile event and he hopes his impressive performance can push him into the Commonwealth Games reckoning.

He was at the Commonwealth Championships in South Africa recently where he finished in 10th place.
