FORMER Wanderers defender Marcos Alonso has signed for Sunderland on a season-long loan.
The Spanish full-back, who left the Reebok in the summer to join Serie A side Fiorentina, becomes Gus Poyet’s first new signing at the Stadium of Light.
The 22-year-old played 35 games for Wanderers and scored five goals after signing from Real Madrid in 2010 but turned down a deal to remain in the Championship to move to Italy for a nominal compensation fee.
