WANDERERS (4-1-4-1) ANDY LONERGAN...5 Shares the blame with Knight for the second goal as there was no reason for him to be out of his area.

ALEX BAPTISTE...7 Pick of the bunch at the back and produced the best finish of the day too. A huge improvement on his Leicester performance.

MATT MILLS...5 While there was nothing overtly wrong with his defending, Mills’ distribution was poor and provided a constant source of frustration.

ZAT KNIGHT...5 Two horrendous mistakes set the fans on his back but to his credit, he was possibly Wanderers’ best player for the next 70 minutes.

TIM REAM...6 Out of position and it shows. Wanderers are missing the American’s distribution from the back while he plays out wide.

JAY SPEARING...6 Got more involved than he did against Leicester and forced one good save out of Shay Given. Still not at his best, though.

CHRIS EAGLES...6 Worked hard but ran down too many blind alleys. Looks in desperate need of a goal to aid his confidence levels.

MARK DAVIES...7 Quite an encouraging 90 minutes from the fit-again midfielder, whose buzzing style showed up well as the Whites got back into the game.

DARREN PRATLEY...7 Quite a surprise to see Pratley substituted as until that point he had been Wanderers’ best attacking player.

CHUNG-YONG LEE...5 Wasted a golden opportunity after snapping up a mistake from Given. Needs much more killer instinct in front of goal.

JOE MASON...5 Easy to feel sorry for the youngster, who ran his socks off but got very little support or opportunities in the first half.

Subs: Moritz 64 (for Pratley) – Gave the ball away too much after his arrival 5 Beckford 64 (for Mason) – Wasted one big chance with a skewed volley 5 Ngog 76 (for Chung-Yong) – Rescued a point with his late far-post strike 7 Not used: Lee-Barrett, White, Medo, Vela.

Star man: Mark Davies Searched for a way to get Wanderers back into the game and always looked willing to take the ball on. If Wanderers are going anywhere this season, it is vital that Davies stays fit and in form.

MIDDLESBROUGH (4-4-1-1) SHAY GIVEN...5 RHYS WILLIAMS...6 DANIEL AYALA...7 BEN GIBSON...7 GEORGE FRIEND...6 ALBERT ADOMAH...6 GRANT LEADBITTER...6 RICHIE SMALLWOOD...6 MUSTAPHA CARAYOL...7 JACOB BUTTERFIELD...6 CURTIS MAIN...7 Subs: Jutkiewicz 6, 66 (for Carayol), Ledesma 77 (for Butterfield) Not used: Konstantopoulos, Richardson, Varga, Hines.

Their star man: Curtis Main Buzzed around and hassled mistakes out of the Wanderers’ centre-backs. Could have had a couple of goals on the day.
