TIN hats at the ready – Matt Mills is sounding a battle cry to the rest of the Championship.

Fresh from scoring his first goal of the season to grab a point against Nottingham Forest, the centre-back insists there is more than enough fight in the Wanderers dressing room to save their season.

Things got plenty rough enough on Saturday as the visitors’ consistent time-wasting tactics riled tempers on and off the pitch at the Reebok.

But Mills is happy enough to roll up his sleeves and fight in order to climb the table.

“I expect a battle every week,” he said. “The way I play, I lead mentally into games as if you’re going to war. That is how I see it.

“I think the spirit we have shown in recent weeks as a squad – not just a starting 11 – but players have come off the bench and made an impact.

“You won’t achieve anything in life on your own, and certainly not in football – especially in the Championship.”

Mills got on the end of a free-kick from Andre Moritz in the 75th minute to earn yet another home draw for Wanderers and the defender believes he can add more goals to his game.

“It was a great ball by Moritz,” he said. “I changed my run and found myself in the middle and managed to flick it in the corner. It was nice, it’s been a while. I’ve had a couple cleared off the line this season so it’s been coming. “I think there are more goals in me. When I look back on my career I have usually scored and then gone on a bit of a run so I’m hoping that there are more goals to come in the next few weeks.

“It’s something I’ve achieved in my career and it is something I need to get back to. If I keep making the runs and the delivery is as good as it was today then hopefully there will be more to come.”

Mills thought Wanderers did enough to come away from the game with more than a point – a 10th draw of the campaign. I thought we were the better side throughout the game.

“Their goal was a bit sloppy from us but the fightback from us was magnificent.

“We really played on the front foot.

“We had two up front, we stretched it, we got our ball players going in midfield and I thought we looked a threat all day.”
