Waterlogged pitches decimated the weekend’s fixture list, but Ladybridge made good use of their 3G surface to share the spoils with Milnthorpe in an eight-goal thriller.

The stormy afternoon started off badly for the Tempest Road outfit, who conceded three goals in an horrific 10-minute spell midway through the first half.

But a goal before the break by Steven Schofield gave the hosts some hope and Ladybridge could easily have gone on to win the game with a much-improved second-half display.

They were straight on the attack from the re-start, with Jamie Desousa reducing the arrears with a quick second goal.

Confidence that has been lacking in recent weeks surged back into the team as 16-year-old McCauley Farrington then equalised with his first goal for the team.

An excellent four-man move ended with John Smalley handing Ladybridge an incredible 4-3 lead. But, after missing further chances to extend their lead, they conceded from a Milnthorpe free-kick five minutes from time.
