CRAIG Davies came in from the cold to answer Wanderers’ striking SOS against Cardiff on Saturday and now the Wales international hopes he can remain a firm fixture in the team.

Davies is likely to retain his place at high-flying QPR tonight after completing 90 minutes in Saturday’s fourth-round defeat.

It was his first start since mid-August and only his eighth in Wanderers colours since joining a year ago.

This season, that has been down to a succession of injuries that have derailed his bid to challenge Jermaine Beckford and David Ngog for a starting spot.

But with Beckford sidelined and Ngog heading through the Reebok exit door, Davies has an unexpected chance to stake a claim and he is determined not to pass up on it.

He said: “It’s not necessarily make or break but when you are out for a couple of months people forget about you.

“So, it’s up to me now I have come back to make people remember me. If you work hard you get a bit of luck so hopefully I will get a bit of luck.

“I have been frustrated with the injuries. I got an ankle in the QPR game but played the week after at Blackburn. Then it flared up and I was out for six weeks.

“I came back for about two weeks and then I did my hamstring.

“Then I did it again and I was out for eight or nine weeks.

“It has been frustrating because I want to help out my team-mates, whether I am playing 90 minutes or 20 minutes.

“It was good to be back in the action on Saturday; it was just frustrating about the result.

“In a way I have been lucky because some players are out with cruciates and things like that. But I am over that now and I am back. It’s my job to make sure I stay back and I will do whatever that takes.”

Davies and co return to Championship action in West London tonight knowing they face a tough task against a Rangers side who have lost just one of 13 home league games – to leaders Leicester – and won their last three.

But the 28-year-old is not daunted by the task in hand.

He added: “There are no easy games in this league. It doesn't matter if you are playing Yeovil at home or QPR away, they are all tough.

“If we can get a couple of points from these games we can go from there.

“We have been unlucky and we have been unfortunate.

“We have got the players and the staff and training is really good.

“I think we can turn it round so we will see where we end up.

“Everyone has been frustrated because some of the results haven’t gone our way.

“I am sure it won’t be long before it turns.”
