A BOLTON marathon which was held for the first time last year is set to have double the number of runners when it is staged again next month.
The Bolton Hill Marathon, which starts and finishes at Moss Bank Park and takes in Rivington, Winter Hill and Anglezarke, attracted the capacity 300 runners last year.
The success has led organiser Phil Eccleston – a member of Burnden Roadrunners from Beaumont Rise, Bolton – to make it a two-day event this year with marathons on both Saturday and Sunday, March 8 and 9.
The Saturday event has already attracted the maximum 300 runners, with around 100 places available for the Sunday race.
Anyone interested in entering can do so online at www.hillrunner.org.uk.
