ENTRIES are still being invited for the fourth annual Trotters 5 race on Sunday.

Hosted by Burnden Road Runners, the race attracted a field of 311 last year and has a limit of 500 for this weekend’s event.

The five-mile multi-terrain race starts at 10am and takes in the paths and trails surrounding Smithills Coaching House.

It has grown year on year, quickly establishing itself as a popular fixture on the local running calendar.

Also part of the Central Lancs Grand Prix series of races, a large field of mixed abilities, both local and regional, line up ready to test themselves in an inclusive and friendly race.

All runners receive a technical T-shirt upon completion of the two-lap race which has prizes for individual and team winners and veterans’ categories.

Burnden Road Runners, who celebrate their 30th anniversary next year, have grown to 120 members with up to 40 competing regularly at local and regional events.

Visit ukresults.net to enter. Runners can enter on the day, depending on whether the race limit of 500 has been reached, and anyone registering on the day is advised to arrive early at Smithills Sports Centre as there is a five-minute walk to the start line.

Changing and shower facilities will be available along with refreshments, and profits will be donated to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
