COLIN Todd has thanked the people of Bolton who have wished him well in his recovery from a triple heart by-pass operation.

The former Bolton Wanderers manager had the operation two weeks ago and says his recovery is going well.

Todd, who managed Wanderers from 1995 to 1999, and led the club into the Premier League by winning the Championship title in a goal-laden season, has been touched by the get-well messages he has received from people in the town.

And he contacted The Bolton News to ask if he could say thank-you to them.

“I just want to thank the well-wishers from Bolton,” said the 65-year-old former England international player.

“I was very pleased that they have let me know I have been in their thoughts. I am very grateful to them for their kind words.

“I have had a lot of people wish me well, not only from Bolton but a lot who remember me from my time at Derby County and Sunderland as well [where he was a player].

“Everyone has been very good and that’s been important to me and to my family.”

Todd is currently manager of Danish top flight side Randers who he steered to a third-place finish last season and are ninth this season, seven points behind fourth.

“We had a great season last season, finishing third, getting to a cup final and getting into the Europa League,” he said.

“This season the league is very tight and we’re not too far off the pace.”

Reflecting on when he first realised he may have a heart problem, he said: “We were in a training camp in Spain playing head tennis.

“I got the symptoms and I looked them up on my ipad. If I’d not looked them up I could have been in bigger trouble.

“Things are going well and I have to thank the surgeons who have been great.”
