Keith Andrews casts doubts over Bolton Wanderers return after Brighton loan

The Bolton News: Keith Andrews not confident of a Reebok return Keith Andrews not confident of a Reebok return

KEITH Andrews has scotched suggestions that he could have a playing future with Wanderers.

Dougie Freedman refused to rule out the Irishman returning to the club from a loan spell at Brighton before the two sides met at the Reebok last weekend.

The Whites boss said he “respected” Andrews’ decision to look for first team football elsewhere and that he would reassess the 33-year-old’s future “if he shows what he is capable of showing in the summer.”

But the midfielder doubts there is any chance of him salvaging his Bolton career, which lasted a single season in the Championship, or whether Freedman really would offer him a route back.

“I'm surprised really,” he told the Brighton Argus.

“That would be what the headlines said but if you actually analyse what he (Freedman) said I doubt that's the case in all honesty.

“The writing was on the wall when they let me go on loan. Although I've got a year left on my contract I would be very surprised if I was there.

“If you actually analysed what was said there was not a lot in there to suggest I've got a big future at Bolton.”
