WANDERERS could be in the running to sign Leeds United defender Lee Peltier on loan after the 27-year-old's proposed switch to Nottingham Forest collapsed.

Forest announced his signing on their club website yesterday but it appears the deal broke down after the Reds failed to agree terms to appoint Neil Warnock as their new manager.

Warnock signed Peltier for Leeds in 2012 but after turning down the City Ground job, he revealed on Talksport today that Bolton was now the most likely destination for the former Liverpool youngster.

Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has confirmed the deal fell through at the final hurdle, even after both clubs had stated it had been completed and the player had visited their training ground.

Wanderers, who are still in need of cover at left-back, are believed to be interested after they were linked with Peltier in the summer and a possible swap deal involving Matt Mills.

However, it is understood there are a host of clubs monitoring the situation.
