QUEEN Anne’s dreams of a league and cup double floundered at home to Great Lever Wanderers.

The Division Two champions, who sauntered to the title with an unbeaten record, went down 3-1 in the last eight of the divisional cup.

A double from Anthony Greer and a third from Paul Farnworth for Great Lever rendered Danny Dare’s strike for Queen Anne a mere consolation.

Astley Bridge Elite ensured they would not be finishing in the bottom two of Division Two following a 5-2 win at Brindley Arms.

The victory opened up a five-point gap over the second-bottom side, who have one game still to play.

In Division One, Cattle Market made it 15 wins from 19 matches with a 2-1 victory over D Havilland.

Already crowned champions, the league leaders underlined their authority with goals from Sean Rothwell and James Tobin.
