BOLTON’S two cricket leagues have no intention of merging.
The Bolton League and the Bolton Association have issued a joint statement making it clear they plan to remain separate.
The two local leagues, who split in 1930, were prompted to make their intentions clear following rumours suggesting they may be considering joining forces.
The rumours are among many circulating around Lancashire and Greater Manchester that significant changes to the structure of amateur cricket in the region are under consideration.
In a joint statement issued yesterday, the two leagues said: “Officials from the Bolton Association and Bolton League met last week at Daisy Hill Cricket Club to discuss the proposed development of their leagues and other leagues in Greater Manchester.
“It was agreed by both parties that there would be no plans for the merger of the two leagues in the foreseeable future.”
