Memories of Stoke City will fire up Bolton Wanderers against Birmingham City, says Adam Bogdan

ADAM Bogdan reckons Wanderers should approach today’s season finale with the same ruthlessness Stoke City did on the day Wanderers’ Premier League adventure ended two years ago.

Back then, Whites fans were clinging on to the fact their hosts had nothing to play for but pride. But Owen Coyle’s side received no favours at the Britannia Stadium as Stoke battled back from 2-1 down to take a point, ending Bolton’s 11-year stay in the top flight.

And with today’s visitors Birmingham City needing to take something from this afternoon’s game and relying on favours from elsewhere, the Hungary international knows how desperate the visitors will be.

“That day will never, ever get away from me,” he said. “No-one in the team at Stoke will forget the feeling of relegation.

“That is life. You play to win, just as Stoke did.

“I’m sorry for the situation Birmingham find themselves in but we have a job to do and it is not my job to think about what will happen (to them).

“You think back to those Stoke and West Brom games in the Premier League where we were the ones in the unfortunate situation but the two teams we played kept their focus and did their job. You have to respect that.

“We are just playing for three points. Where they are in the table does not concern me. We want to win, send our fans home happy for the summer and start building again.”
