Cross Cup preliminary round results

Sunday, May 4:

Astley and Tyldesley 181-5, Winton 184-8. Winton won by 2 wkts Darcy Lever 65, Standish 69-5. Standish won by 5 wkts.

 

A TWO-WICKET victory for Winton saw the Bolton Association new boys complete a league and cup double over Astley and Tyldesley over the weekend.

The Gin Pit Lane side were looking for revenge in the premliminary round of the Cross Cup on Sunday after losing by 64 runs on Saturday.

Astley batted first and reached 181 for the loss of just five wickets with skipper Jimmy Cutt 84 not out while Tom Pemberton chipped in with 24no.

In reply, Winton reached their target thanks to good knocks by Brian Cox (38), Mike Seehan (38) and Matthew Talbot (36no).

The pick of the Astley bowlers was Travis Wordsworth with 4-30.

Elsewhere, Standish also booked their place in the next round after a convincing five-wicket win against Darcy Lever.

David Bowden (5-21) and Sam Heeley (4-26) were in impressive form with the ball as Darcy Lever were skittled out for 65.

It took Standish 28.4 overs to reach their target and the main batting highlight was Heeley’s unbeaten 21 while Alex Lee took 4-24.
