Local golfer Norman Guy took time out from winning a competition last weekend to fish his golf bag and buggy out of a pond.
The Regent Park player took first prize at the annual Bolton Captains’ Society Goblets competition at Horwich on Sunday along with his partner, home club captain Kevin Banks.
They were three stableford points clear of the 42-strong field at the end, but at one point Norman wasn’t even on the field.
He spent 30 minutes struggling to retrieve his bag and buggy out of the deep pond after they rolled down a bank into the water while he was on the green.
All’s well that ends well, though, and Norman was eventually able to take home the victory and all his equipment – but not before local golf stalwart and Bolton News golf correspondent Derek Jones had captured the whole thing on his camera.
