Hungary international goalkeeper Adam Bogdan calm about his Bolton Wanderers future

The Bolton News: Wanderers keeper Adam Bogdan Wanderers keeper Adam Bogdan

ADAM Bogdan is in no rush to talk about a new contract at Wanderers.

The Hungarian keeper is entering into the last year of his current deal and Dougie Freedman has indicated that he would like to tie him down to the club for longer, if the finances were right.

Bogdan is relaxed about the situation and still expects to link up with the Wanderers camp in late June, ready to begin another assault on the Championship.

While the 26-year-old makes no secret of the fact he wants to play top flight football again, he is happy to let the situation run its course for now.

“For the last couple of weeks I’ve only been concentrating on what I can do out on the pitch, making sure we finish the season strong,” he told The Bolton News.

“I’ll go away, have three or four weeks to rest, let everyone recharge and then I’ll be ready for a really great season. Perhaps we talk then.

“I’ve always said that I wanted to get back into the Premier League, and with Bolton, and that hasn’t changed.

“The only thing I can really affect is how I prepare, how I train, all the rest is for other people to talk about.”

Bogdan was disappointed in last season’s 14th-placed finish but admits it could have been a lot worse had Freedman’s side not found a measure of consistency in the final quarter of the campaign.

“When you start poorly and the results are not coming then the only thing you can do is try and turn it around,” he said. “The Championship is so tight you can still get there somehow.

“We found the winning components and the winning mentality and managed to put a really good run together. Unfortunately it was too late [for the play-offs] but given the start it was a positive end to the season.

“To look at the season overall it’s not pleasing because we wanted to finish higher.”
