BOLTON parkrun has plenty of hardcore loyal runners who turn up week in week out.

No matter what the weather is like, you will see the same faces every Saturday morning running the 5k course through the woodland of Leverhulme Park.

Since the free, timed event began three years and three months ago, a number of runners have clocked up an amazing number of runs on the Bolton course.

But who has done the most?

Focusing only on runs completed at Bolton, Kenneth Warner leads the way with an incredible 141 runs.

When you think there are about 54 runs a year and that the occasions someone volunteers instead of runs do not count in the total, 141 runs in three years and three months is staggering.

On Saturday Kenneth pulled ahead of Paul Johnson who had a (very) rare day off and now stands second on the list with 140.

Close on his heels is Finlay Coyne on 139.

A little gap separates those three from the next on the list, Robert Short who is on 135.

Next is Paul’s son, Peter Johnson, who also missed Saturday’s run and has completed 133 at Bolton.

His is an extra special achievement as he is in the junior 11-14 age group.

To complete such an enormous number of runs at such a young age is truly remarkable.

Two people are tied next in our Bolton parkrun hardcore league table with Ian Riggs and Dave Carroll both having sampled the delights of our hilly course on 132 occasions.

And just behind them is Paul McGreavy, who would also have been on 132 had he also not missed Saturday’s event.

It really is an incredible achievement by them all, and now the question remains: who will be the first to reach 150? The race is on.

Going back to Saturday’s event, there was a pretty typical – if not slightly higher – turnout with 255 setting off and finishing on the Bolton United Harriers track.

Thirty two of those were first time runners at Bolton and a brilliant total of 63 new personal best times were set.

Junior runners Daniel Shaw and Will Grimshaw were the first two male runners to complete the course, closely followed by Sean McMyler.

Lindsey Brindle, Debbie Proctor and Abigail Werner-Bates were the first three female finishers.

Junior runner Joseph Walker completed his 50th parkrun this week, all 50 having been at Bolton.

A brilliant 20 individuals gave up their time to volunteer and help make the event possible.

This means more than 60 people have volunteered at Bolton parkrun in May alone, yet another statistic to be proud of.
