A BOLTON wrestler continued his rise up the international ladder with an impressive performance in a tournament in Italy.
George Ramm, pictured, finished sixth against some of the best senior wrestlers in the world, adding to a successful year so far in which he has already won gold at the British Junior Championships.
He also impressed at the British Seniors where he pitted his wits against more experienced international wrestlers.
Recalling that competition, he said: “It was a great event and I really enjoyed representing my country.
“It was quite tough being up against experienced competitors but it was a part of a learning curve.”
On his latest performance in Italy, he added: “It was a great experience getting to compete with the world’s best seniors. I learned a lot.”
George’s coach at Sharples, Eddy Kavanagh said: “He lost to the winner from Armenia 10-4, and to the bronze medallist from Canada 10-2.
“He did well against world class opponents and it was good to score points on his opponents. He was the only wrestler to score points on the winner.”
