THREE Bolton wrestlers were today picked to represent England at the Commonwealth Games.

Philip Roberts, George Ramm and Louisa Porogovksa were all named in the national team to go to Glasgow next month.

It will be the second Games for Roberts, who competes in the 65kg category, following his appearance at the Commonwealths in Delhi four years ago.

Both he and 17-year-old Ramm - the four-time English and twice-British champion - live and train in Bolton, while Preston’s Porogovksa, who competes at 55kg, is a member of Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club.

Sharples Wrestling Club member Ramm, who competes in the 61kg category, said: “This is my first Games and being selected for Team England is a real privilege.

“Being in the same environment as great athletes from around the world will be a fantastic experience and a great learning curve.”

England’s wrestling team leader Shaun Morley said: “The team will have a distinct mixture of youth and experience, containing five members of the team that competed in Delhi four years ago, two returning medallists and eight athletes who will be competing in a multi-sport games for the first time.
