Join me again tomorrow night. Cheers!
All over - Brazil win, with a hint of controversy and a lot of poor goalkeeping.
The hosts up and running!! Think Kevinho could play instead of Fred though!! Night— @Kevin__Davies 12 June 2014
Lightning break - Croatia back off again and Oscar toe pokes a shot past Pletikosa, who is again slow to get down.
Perišić blasts one from the edge of the box, Julio Cesar beats it away
Modric cross from the right, Corluka doesn't get a good header in on goal.
Neymar shakes hands with the referee before jogging off to be replaced by Ramires.
Julio Cesar pushes away a bobbling shot from Modric. Croatia throwing everything at it now.
Croatia have the ball in the net but the referee has ruled it out. No idea why. This ref has not had the most solid of games...
RT @fmuamba: After that shocking decision I will be very surprise if this referee take charge of another game in this World Cup. #BrazilvsC…— @GarethWareth 12 June 2014
Luiz gets on the end of an excellent cross from Oscar - heads over the top. Neymar was on for his hat-trick unmarked behind him.
"It's a good height for a keeper," says Clive Tyldesley. Evidently not.
Goalkeeper should have done better. Almost palmed the ball into the net.
Goal - just...
It's Neymar to take.
I don't think that has ever been a penalty...
Lovren booked for a pull on Fred
Penalty to Brazil
So that's Fred and Bernard on the pitch for Brazil?
Alves blasts a free kick but it dips over the bar.
Very poor from the Croatians there. Lucky Neymar delayed his pass.
Corluka booked for a foul on Fred.
Croatian midfield asserting itself much more in this second half. Keeping the ball well.
Big Phil goes down in my estimation with the fake yellow card nonsense.
Hasn't really had the same zip so far in the second half. Pace has slowed.
Oscar really has worked hard for Brazil.
Who's Brazil's biggest threat? says Adrian Chiles.
Neymar, obviously says Lee Dixon, filling the hatred void vacated by Roy Keane.
Patrick Vieira's head is almost perfectly spherical. Quite amazing.
Hulk hasn't been that incredible either this first 45 minutes.
Referee doing an excellent impression of Banksy.
Yes! The paint!
Rakitic, by contrast, hasn't had a great first half.
Vrsaljko has impressed me so far. Not so much that I fancied typing his name that much, but he has played well.
Game over if Brazil score before half time. Croatia look like they are panicking a little bit.
How expensive does that Jelavic missed header look now?
RT @RobHall46: Cough cough #TeamNeymar10— @bwfc_chris 12 June 2014
Cue shots of nubile young Brazilian women celebrating.
Scuffed his shot - but Brazil were so quick on the break. Off the post and in.
Equaliser - Neymar!
Julio Cesar makes a save from Jelavic - another good chance for the Croatians.
RT @BenFoster: Bet we're doing the same as you at home right about now yea...?!! #BrazilvsCroatia http://t.co/Tm1Lu2hmy0— @_hannahlandon 12 June 2014
Neymar for an arm on Modric.
RT @OFAHReactions: Brazil 0-1 Croatia.... http://t.co/FQzMtLkQkY— @SLHC 12 June 2014
Oscar has a shot beaten away after Neymar had done brilliantly to get to the byline on the right. Brazil seem to be finding their feet.
Reports from some of the journos over there that half the floodlights have failed at the Sao Paulo Stadium. You can't really tell.
Brazilian back four looking as comfortable as ever, I see...
Would you believe that is Brazil's first-ever World Cup own goal!
RT @fmuamba: OMG— @CalumRoss1999 12 June 2014
Well there goes the dull 0-0 draw - Brazil have got to start playing now.
Rakitic's low cross from the right, it runs through Jelavic and Marcelo can't do anything but prod it over the line.
Own goal - Marcelo! Disaster!
Paulinho shot deflected - corner delayed whilst the referee has a word with a couple of players.
If I was playing for Croatia tonight, I'd be throwing that ball into the box at every opportunity.
Olic should have scored - headed wide at the far post.
Hair took the pace off the header from Luiz. Croatia would be gutted to concede from a set piece.
Anyone else really looking forward to seeing the vanishing free kick spray?
Quite like the little score graphic in the corner. Very neat.
Ah good, Andy Townsend.
Odds on a dove being involved in a dodgy disallowed goal? Where's Ray Winstone when you need him?
@MarcIles close game. 1-1.— @IanRowboti04 12 June 2014
Brazil's national anthem sounds like it was written by Gilbert and Sullivan
@MarcIles 3-1 Brazil— @geeivers 12 June 2014
To reinterate my score prediction earlier - I'm going for 2-0 Brazil
Come on Clive - bit more hyperbole please!
I love that Croatia kit. Have a shirt myself with Prosinecki on the back.
Adrian Chiles uses word hulaballoo +3pts
My Sky Plus was playing up - I couldn't rewind (once I'd decided to). Then I missed the replay. It's a period of my life I'd rather forget...

I spent about twenty seconds rewinding ya nut LMAO - that's too funny...
The host nation has never lost the opening game of a World Cup, I've just read.
Lee Dixon criticising cross-nationality in front of Patrick Vieira - born in Dakar, Senegal. First foot in mouth moment.
Run it off Neymar - your're in my Fantasy League side.
Fabio Cannavaro looks a bit like a Thunderbirds puppet. He's faring quite well so far, though.
Looking at that Brazil side, can't see where the goals are coming from...
Senegal - and Dioufy - beating France next. I remember I was at a press conference at Bury as they came out of administration when that game was on.
Ah, highlights of Argentina v Cameroon - magnificent game.
Is @andremoritz10 starting for Brazil tonight? ⚽ #bwfc— @sinnott1808 12 June 2014

I suppose COYWM is valid for the England Squad.
Anyone see the BWFC flag about 20 seconds into half time against Ecuador?
Half an hour to go before kick-off in the first game and ITV coverage already starting to get on my goat...

Cesc Fabregas would have been better going back to arsenal in my opinion but if he didn't have the option then fair enough, decent little player. Can still see him excelling at Chelsea, along with one of our own in Gary Cahill

Bolton News on the ball again,
Quote:''Cahill broke into the international fold under Fabio Capello while still playing for Bolton, becoming the first representative of the club to score for England in 59 years – the previous being Ray Parry – when he netted against Bulgaria in 2011''
Would have loved to have seen Ray Parry score that one in 2011...lol
Think you've read that wrong mate..
Predictions for tonight's game? I think Brazil will win it quite comfortably - 2-0 with Neymar first goal.
One-time Wanderers target Lloyd Dyer has been signed by Watford.
Last tweet from Rob Hall responding to Chelsea's £27m capture of Cesc Fabregas, formerly of Arsenal, of course.
Arsenal fans gna be mad init lol— @RobHall46 12 June 2014
Had word from Wanderers that Fitzsimons will indeed sign, and be drafted initially into the Under-21 squad.
@MarcIles @christyldesleyy And here was me thinking Speroni had signed! Heaven forbid we should go into a season with a top class keeper.— @SBBWFC 12 June 2014
Here's a link to our story on Ross Fitzsimons - the ex-Crystal Palace keeper who looks to be on his way to Wanderers.
From the England camp - Roy Hodgson has been dealt a boost as Danny Wellbeck trains with the rest of the players, giving him a fighting chance of facing Italy on Saturday.
As if to try and steal Wanderers' thunder, Chelsea have announced the signing of Cesc Fabregas.
No confirmation from the football club, though, which is an important thing at this point. Could all be an elaborate ploy to make the timelime on my Wanderers Live blog...
@MarcIles I've had experience in non-league.. Let Dougie know will you?— @christyldesleyy 12 June 2014
So where does that leave Wanderers' goalkeepers? Andy Lonergan and Adam Bogdan both only have a year left, and Arran Lee-Barrett hasn't signed a deal for next season.
He has got first team experience - sitting on the bench 10 times in league and cup for the Eagles.
In total last season he played 11 games for Palace's Under-21s and conceded 22 goals.
OK - more on Wanderers' new signing, who has apparently announced his signing on Twitter by all accounts.
Fitzsimons played on loan at Farnborough last season and previously had loan spells with Harrow Borough, Havant & Waterlooville and Hendon.
He's 6ft tall and has a beard...
Meanwhile, David Edgar signs for Birmingham.
RT @davidedgar141: Delighted to have signed a two year deal at Birmingham City. Looking forward to the season #BCFC http://t.co/sGZzh9w4NV— @andymurray8472 12 June 2014
The lad in question is a goalkeeper from Crystal Palace who was on the fringes of the first team last season.
RT @R_fitzsimons: So happy to have signed for bolton!!!! Medical come back all clear #bwfc #buzzing— @Joe_Dolan5 12 June 2014
Honestly, you step away from one moment and Wanderers make a signing...
Something I have just spotted - Birmingham City have released a DVD of their 2-2 draw at the Reebok at the end of last season.
It was an emotional day for them and all that, but was there really room to celebrate??

Just noticed a story in this morning's Daily Mail that claims West Ham wants former Wanderers full-back Marcos Alonso. Always assumed he would make his stay at Sunderland a permanent one after last season's loan from Fiorentina.
Bournemouth have made a second bid for Coventry's Callum Wilson. There were a few rumours down there that Eddie Howe might look at Marvin Sordell - but you would think that signing Wilson could only harm those chances.
Not much transfer activity at Wanderers at the moment. There has been a little flutter elsewhere, however, which might make the paper tomorrow.
Millwall on the verge of signing Yeovil defender Byron Webster.
Looks like Kagisho Dikgacoi has signed three year deal at Cardiff City. They are certainly investing heavily this summer after relegation.
That video showing Chungy making a complete fool of Demichelis, by the way...
Could use Chungy playing as well as he did against Argentina...

OK, back to World Cup now and I'm asking who you think will be the star of the World Cup?
Can Lionel Messi finally shine on the biggest stage? Is Cristiano Ronaldo going to do the same? Or will Neymar fulfil his prophecy?
From what I am hearing at Wanderers, there hasn't been any further developments than the story we carried earlier this week.
News out of Huddersfield is that the club could be widening its search after frustration in their quest to sign Keith Andrews from Wanderers.
Back in the saddle again after writing a long interview with Roy McFarland, which should be in the paper on Monday morning.

I'm like a kid at christmas marc I've been singing all day and I have butterflies, genuinely have a great feeling about this world cup!! COME ON ENGLAND!!!!
I promised yesterday to reveal my own Wanderers World Cup XI after asking for your input yesterday - here are the players I selected.
And if you needed any reminder why Wanderers fans should get excited about the World Cup - I think we summed it up nicely on the back page today.
Just in case you were wondering where Sao Paulo was...
I'm also on Twitter @MarcIles so if you're more of a 140 character type, then please contact me on there with your views.
But we also want YOU to get involved. We have a comment facility on here - feel free to direct any Wanderers-related questions to me and I'll try to answer them as best as I can.
I'll be blogging throughout the afternoon and bringing you as much news from Wanderers, the Championship and the World Cup as I can.
It's the first game of the tournament this evening as hosts Brazil take on Croatia in Sao Paulo, 9pm our time.
Good morning and happy World Cup!
