JACK Hancock is set to earn county honours after being called up for Lancashire.
The 11-year-old Egerton player impressed selectors sufficiently in trials to be selected for the Lancashire development squad.
The specialist batsman and left-arm spin bowler was one of 22 youngsters who attended the final trials in Heywood and emerged successful to leave him looking forward representing his county in at least four games this year.
Jack, a Year 6 pupil at Walmsley County Primary School, spent the last four years at Bradshaw Cricket Club before moving to Egerton this year.
He plays for both the under-11s and u13s teams at the club and is also in the Bolton district u11s side for whom he scored 58 last week.
His talent was spotted a couple of years ago when he was picked to attend the MCC hub for the region, winning its u13s prize He has trained at the hub, which is based at Bolton School, every Sunday for the last two years which has helped to develop his game enormously.
