Nekoli Parris and Matt Twentyman both scored centuries for Bury as Simon Belston’s side moved to within one point of league leaders Flixton as their title contenders and Darcy Lever both fell to defeats on Saturday.


Elsewhere, high-scoring games were the order of the day with Majid Majeed hitting a century as Adlington secured a narrow eight-run victory at struggling Astley & Tyldesley, while Swinton Moorside’s Jamie McDougall also notched up a top 100 as the newcomers beat Worsley by 110 runs.
 

Parris (105) and Twentyman (102) ensured Bury returned to winning ways at home to Little Hulton after last weekend’s surprise defeat to Lostock.
 

The hosts batted first and despite losing early wickets with the score at 6-2 and 69-3, the partnership of 151 from professional Parris and overseas Twentyman saw Simon Belston’s side rack up 253-4 in their 48 overs.
 

Little Hulton scored 170-8 in reply with Mohammad top-scoring with 68 but they never looked like troubling the second-placed team.
 

Khan took 3-27 at the back end of the innings while Parris also picked up 2-24 with the ball off 10 overs as his impressive season with bat and ball continued.
 

Jamar Griffiths top-scored with 98 as champions Atherton inflicted Flixton’s second defeat of the season at Higham Park, winning by just 15 runs.
Paul Walsh (42) and Dale Tyrer (32) helped the hosts reach 276-9 with Alton Beckford the visitors’ best bowler taking 4-76.
 

Luke Perry (73) and Simon Lang (65) led the Flixton reply with Rashon Primus taking 3-59 as the visitors fell just short at 261-7.
 

“It was a high-scoring and exciting game played in fantastic weather,” said Atherton’s John Charlson.
 

“There was some really good cricket on show and the better batting conditions were ideal.”
 

Title rivals Darcy Lever also lost, falling to a surprising four-wicket defeat at Winton.
 

Top scorer was R Yousas with 25 for Lever with Chris Fenn (21) reaching 151-9 from their 48 overs. Will Driver took 4-64 from his 18 overs with three maidens.
 

In reply, Winton hit 152-6 from 43.4 overs with Driver top-scoring with 60 not out while Rowan Bricker was out for 39.
 

Majeed hit a century as Adlington secured a narrow 8-run victory at struggling Astley & Tyldesley.
 

The Gin Pit side remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just one win from their opening nine games.
 

Adlington batted first with Majeed (105) and Mark Halliwell (48) putting on a stand of 130 as the visitors totalled 219-7 in their 48 overs.Jordan O’Malley took 1-11 and Anthony Walker 3-28.
 

A good effort from A&T saw Travis Wordsworth hit 78 and professional James Cutt 54 as the hosts fell just short of the target, running in 211-6 in their allotted overs. Majeed 2-58 and Halliwell 2-26 in his five overs were the pick of the Adlington bowling.
 

Chris Sanderson enjoyed a good day with the bat and ball as fifth-placed Blackrod defeated fourth-placed Daisy Hill by just 22 runs in a tightly-fought encounter.

Having won the toss, the home side batted first and hit 168-9.
Sanderson top-scored with 56 with Jack Southwood notching up 35 in his first match of the season. Amjid Khan was the pick of the Daisy Hill bowlers taking 4-47 in his 18 overs.
 

Ste Kenny (37), Shaun Brooks (23) and Mike Chilton (24) led a spirited fightback for the visitors but were eventually skittled for 146 with professional Tushendra De Zoysa taking 4-28 and man-of-the-match Sanderson 4-25 to seal the win for Vicarage Road men.
 

Tom Kelly and Jake Waterworth both hit half centuries as Golborne beat Lostock by 37 runs at Haydock.
 

Having won the toss and electing to bat, the hosts notched up 184 in 38 overs with Kelly (57) and Waterworth (50). David Flanagan took 6-41 in his 16 overs.
 

After three early wickets, Robert Holgate’s 41 and Nick Jeff’s 27 steadied the visitors’ innings as they were bowled for 147 off 40.3 overs. Lewis Clarke took 3-22 which included four maidens.
 

Chris Read starred for Elton as he took 7-53 against second from bottom Standish.
 

The hosts were out for 147 with Sam Heeley top-scoring with 59 as man-of-the-match Read bowled well to restrict the hosts from making too many runs.
 

G Nicholson’s 40no and A Lowes 39no helped Elton claim victory with 148-5.
 

A century from Jamie McDougall helped Swinton Moorside get back to winning ways against Worsley in their first home game since mid-April.
 

The league's newcomers had seen three consecutive home matches rained off in recent weeks but McDougall’s 129 helped the mid-table side reach 325-5.
 

Captain John Herreran scored 89no as the hosts ran in 219 runs in the second half to claim the victory.
 

In reply, Worsley started very well at 126-1 off very few overs with Mike Old scoring 67 but fell away as Stu Krishnamurthy took 5-23 as Swinton won by 110 runs.
 

Despite father and son Mike and Liam Watkinson putting on a combined score of 81 for Edgworth, the visitors fell to a 40-run defeat at Walshaw.
 

Jack McClung top-scored for the hosts with 62 and Danny Hornby was out for 50 but it was number nine Lee Chapman who scored a very quick 27 which helped the Bury side total 197.
 

The best bowler for the visitors was Gareth Williams who took 4-41 off 10 overs and Mike Watkinson also took 3-51 off 18.
