Bury world boxing champion Scott Quigg expecting ring return in September
BURY boxing world champion Scott Quigg is set to return to the ring in Manchester on Saturday, September 13.
An official announcement is expected next week as Quigg prepares for a fourth defence of his WBA super bantamweight belt.
But the 25-year-old’s website has published a story from boxingscene.com stating he is likely to be taking on former WBC champion Victor Terrazas in the autumn.
Quigg was last in action in April when he demolished South African Tshifhiwa Munyai inside five minutes at Manchester’s Phones 4U Arena.
A proposed summer fight at Bury FC’s JD Stadium did not come off, though promoter Eddie Hearn is hopeful Quigg can fight in his home-town soon.
There is also speculation Quigg will have an all-British showdown with Northern Ireland’s Carl Frampton but he is due to face another top super bnantamweight star in the shape of Kiko Martinez in September.
Another future alternative for Quigg is Leo Santa Cruz and a test against Terrazas in the mean time may be deemed good preparation for any meeting with his fellow Mexican.
