A TURTON schoolboy is closing in on national glory after reaching the finals of a prestigious competition.
Rory Timmons has qualified for 100m at the English Schools Athletics Championships this weekend.
James Holman, head of PE at Turton High School said: “There are probably 30 or 40 people in the country who get the qualification times for the event.
“It just shows how big an achievement it is for him.
“We wish him all the best for the competition.
“The school is so proud of what he has done and deserves to get all the success.”
